Twitter Card Checker (X Card Validator Alternative)

Check twitter: card tags on any page, see which values X will fall back to from Open Graph, and spot missing card types or images.

Our server fetches the public page you enter and returns a summary. Nothing is stored. Last updated

Public http:// or https:// pages only. Our server downloads the page once, returns a summary and keeps nothing. JavaScript is not run.

How to use

  1. Enter the URL and select Analyze.
  2. Review the card type and the effective title, description and image.
  3. Values marked “from og:” are inherited from Open Graph tags.

What this tool does

It lists twitter: meta tags and shows the effective values for card type, title, description and image. X falls back to Open Graph tags for most values when a twitter: tag is missing, but it needs twitter:card to choose the large-image layout.

Why it matters

X no longer offers a public card validator, so checking the tags directly is the easiest way to know what a shared link will look like.

Common uses

  • Making sure articles use summary_large_image.
  • Finding pages with no image for previews.

Tips

  • If your Open Graph tags are complete, adding only twitter:card is usually enough.

Limitations

The page is read as the server sends it. Content that is added later by JavaScript (common on React, Vue or Angular sites and some page builders) is not seen. If results look empty, view the rendered page in your browser and use a paste-HTML tool instead.

Troubleshooting

  • “Could not connect” or “took too long”: the site may be down, slow, or blocking automated requests. Try again later or check it in your browser.
  • “Certificate could not be verified”: the HTTPS certificate is expired, self-signed or issued for another domain. Visitors’ browsers will show a warning too.
  • “Private or reserved network address”: the address points to a local or internal network, which this tool never contacts.
  • “Limit reached”: checks are rate-limited to keep the service free and to avoid overloading other websites. Wait a few minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter tags?

Not always. X reads Open Graph tags as a fallback, so a twitter:card tag plus complete Open Graph tags covers most cases.
