    How to use

    1. Paste one redirect per line: the old path, a space (or comma, tab or →), then the new URL.
    2. Choose the redirect type and output format.
    3. Fix any warnings, then copy the rules into your server config or a code snippets plugin.

    What this tool does

    Each old URL is reduced to its path and turned into an exact-match rule, with or without a trailing slash, so /old does not accidentally redirect /old-page. The tool also checks for redirects that point to another redirected URL (chains) or back to themselves (loops).

    Why it matters

    When you change URLs, permanent redirects send visitors and search engines to the new address and help preserve the value of existing links.

    Tips

    • Use 301 for permanent moves and 302 or 307 for temporary ones.
    • Point every old URL straight to its final destination; avoid chains.
    • Query strings (?id=5) need special rules and are flagged rather than guessed.

    Frequently asked questions

    301 or 308?

    Both are permanent. 308 also guarantees the request method is kept (useful for forms and APIs); 301 is the common choice for pages.

    Should I use a plugin or the server?

    Server rules run before WordPress loads and are fastest. A plugin is easier to manage if you are not comfortable editing server files.
