Search result preview (approximate)

Your page title appears here Your meta description appears here. Search engines may show a different snippet taken from the page.

Pixel widths are measured with your browser's Arial font: about 600 px for desktop titles, 920 px (desktop) and 680 px (mobile) for descriptions. Real limits vary.

    How to use

    1. Type or paste your page title into the Title field.
    2. Watch the character count, estimated pixel width and the preview update as you type.
    3. Optionally add a focus keyword to check that it appears near the start.
    4. Copy the generated <title> tag when you are happy with it.

    What this tool does

The tool measures your title with your browser’s Arial font at the size commonly used for result titles on desktop, compares it with an approximate 600-pixel display width and shows where it would likely be cut off. Search engines do not publish an exact limit and sometimes rewrite titles, so treat the result as a guide rather than a guarantee.

    Why it matters

The title is usually the most visible part of a search result. A title that is cut off can hide the words that tell searchers your page is the right one, while a clear, specific title can improve the share of people who click.

    Example

“Meta Title Checker – Free Title Length Tool | WPDesignVault” is 58 characters and fits comfortably; adding “for SEO, Blogs and Online Stores” would push it past the visible width.

    Tips

    • Put the most important words first; the end is what gets cut.
    • Wide letters (W, M) take more space than narrow ones (i, l), so pixel width matters more than character count.
    • Write a unique title for every page.

    Frequently asked questions

How long should a meta title be?

There is no official limit. Titles of roughly 50–60 characters, or under about 600 pixels, usually display in full on desktop. Mobile results can show slightly more by wrapping.

Why does Google show a different title from mine?

Search engines may rewrite a title when they think another text on the page describes it better, for example if the title is very long, vague or repeated across pages.
