Image Cropper: Crop to Any Ratio or Size

Crop an image to a free shape, a fixed aspect ratio (1:1, 4:5, 16:9…) or exact pixel dimensions, rotate or flip it, and download it as JPEG, PNG or WebP. Nothing is uploaded.

Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded. Last updated
Drop an image here or click to choose JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame) and other formats your browser can open. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use

  1. Drop an image or choose a file.
  2. Pick an aspect ratio or Free, then drag the frame and its corner handle. With the keyboard, focus the frame and use the arrow keys to move it and Shift + arrow keys to resize it.
  3. Optionally rotate, flip or set an exact output width and height.
  4. Choose the format and quality, then select Crop and download.

What this tool does

The image is decoded and cropped with your browser’s canvas. The output keeps the full resolution of the cropped area unless you set an output size. EXIF orientation is applied automatically; EXIF metadata such as camera details and GPS location is not copied into the result.

Why it matters

Cropping to the right ratio before uploading prevents themes and social networks from cropping important parts automatically, and exporting at the size you need keeps pages light.

Common uses

  • Square avatars and product photos.
  • Featured images at 16:9 for blog themes.
  • Removing distracting edges from screenshots.

Tips

  • Use WebP for photos on the web; use PNG for screenshots with text or transparency.
  • Removing EXIF data also removes location information from phone photos.

Limitations

  • On iPhone and iPad, images above about 16 megapixels are scaled down to fit the browser’s canvas limit.
  • Animated GIFs are cropped to their first frame. HEIC photos open only in Safari.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded?

No. Cropping happens in your browser and the file never leaves your device.

Can I crop several images at once?
